Frolictown Falls

Frolictown Falls is a small but nice waterfall in Panthertown Valley. Hiking in this area, you really get the feel of being in the woods. There are no panoramas from this thickly vegetated valley floor. Be sure to get a map of Panthertown Valley or find someone to lead you, as the trails can be tricky.

Try A Guideā€™s Guide to Panthertown Vally, a great map available at the Highland Hiker and Brookings, both located on the crossroads in Cashiers.

From Cashiers, drive east on Hwy. 64 down the hill past Cedar Creek Racquet Club, and turn left onto Cedar Creek Road. Drive about five miles to Breedlove Road, and turn right. After another five miles, you will reach a cul-de-sac, where the paved road ends and a gravel road starts off to the left. Follow this road to the parking area near the National Forest Service sign.

The trail starts down an old logging road past a metal gate. Sign in at the sign-in station (a small plastic box mounted about eye-level). Continue down the trail to the wonderful view at Salt Rock. The trail wraps around and downhill to a 3-way junction. Turn right.

Continue ahead until you hear the waterfall, which is just off the left side of the trail appx. one-half mile.
