Bear Wallow Falls

Bear Wallow Falls is a decent waterfall in Gorges State Park. While the hike to the fall is great, the view of the fall from the observation platform is below average. As an outing, this hike is recommended, but for the waterfall lovers, see some of the others in the area first.

From Cashiers, follow Hwy. 64 East to Hwy. 281 South, turning right by the BP station. Continue for one mile until Gorges State Park on the left. Park in the lot and take a look at the map.

The trails in Gorges are well marked and blazed by color. This hike is very level compared to other hikes in the area and passes through a variety of landscapes.

But, once again, the view of the fall is disappointing, especially compared to some of the nearby Horsepasture River falls.
